Nature-Inspired Watercolor Ketubah Illustration

Claire Loon Baldwin illustrates ketubahs, a traditional Jewish wedding contract, in collaboration with Tallulah Ketubahs, a woman-owned business based in Philadelphia. A ketubah transforms a couple’s vows into a work of art, serving as a lasting testament to their love and commitment. It becomes a wedding centerpiece, a treasured home display, and a family heirloom. The text can be customized to commemorate all faiths and any occasion.

California Nature Ketubah

Watercolor and ink, 2022

Claire Loon Baldwin illustrated this traditional Jewish wedding contract for a California couple in collaboration with Tallulah Ketubahs in 2022.

Tallulah Ketubahs land-lettered text in both Hebrew and English on archival watercolor paper, and Claire added a wreath of watercolor and ink nature and botanical illustrations.

The design features the couple's favorite natural elements, including California wildflowers like lupine and poppies, rolling waves, towering mountains, and  birds. The final composition reflects the couple’s love for the biodiverse environment they explored together as they fell in love.

Two left oriented quotation marks in a ocean teal color with a wavy outline as if it has been hand drawn.

We are thrilled with our Ketubah! Claire was wonderful to work with and is such a talented artist.

She wove together images and themes that reflect our life and relationship. Our ketubah feels personal to us, and the lush watercolors and delicate linework are absolutely stunning.

Several people at the wedding told us that it was the most beautiful ketubah they'd ever seen, and we agree! It is beyond what we could have imagined, and we are so happy to display it in our home and to look at it for the rest of our lives!
